Nicotine salt is the natural form of nicotine found in tobacco leaves. Nicotine derived from tobacco leaves is slightly acidic with a pH of approximately 5. However, the most commonly used form of nicotine in e-liquids is called freebase nicotine. Freebase nicotine is slightly basic with a pH of approximately 8. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 where lower pH values indicate a more acidic substance, while higher pH values indicate a more basic substance. The chemical process for making the nicotine derived from tobacco leaves more basic is called de-protonation. This is the process that turns a natural nicotine extract into a freebase nicotine extract. Manufacturers of freebase nicotine would use a stronger base (which is negatively charged) in order to remove the protons from natural nicotine. Removing protons not only makes the nicotine more basic, but it also removes the salts from the nicotine.

A smoother nicotine for vaping higher than normal nic strength eliquids. Flavorless taste and no harsh throat hit so you experience only the eliquid flavors. Formed naturally from tobacco leaves.

Benefits of using nic salts over free-base nicotine.

  • They deliver more nicotine in a single puff, which means that most smokers who are using ecigs to quit can now save a substantial amount on vape juice.
  • Smokers are always searching for that something that’s like smoking, but not exactly it. Using nic salts provides a sensation similar to smoking, even with small pocket-size devices.
  • In regular vape juice, as nicotine level goes up, so does the subjective feeling of throat hit. With nic salts, that sensation is curbed, which means that you can now vape on higher concentrations without feeling like your throat is on fire.
  • In the last couple of years, vape devices have been growing in size. Vapers who wanted top performance would often opt for larger and bulkier e-cigs. There’s no need to do that anymore – nicotine salts work great in smaller devices, such as pod systems or small vape pens.
